Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the benefits of football scholarship and community service. First of all Selmon was raised by Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie. They lived on an agricultural property near Eufala in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. All three became All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in the entire nation. Lee Roy won two championships, and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third season in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Fourth service In college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduating, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The first position he held was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Florida's sports department as Director of Athletics as an associate. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
