
Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez September 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her breakout moment came with Tina's performance in Do the Right Thing (1989), followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance on Fearless (1993) was rewarded with an nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as well as other accolades. Perez has appeared in a variety of films since the time, including It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994), and another nomination for her character in The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). She has performed in stage shows on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. She was also the co-host of The View's 18th season on ABC's talk show The View. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens. Her mother was in the poverty of Woodside Houses by 1999. She died from AIDS-related complications in 1999.
